COLLECTIONS COUNSELOR

The primary responsibility of an AMS Collections Counselor is to manage and recover outstanding payments from patients and / or their guarantor for medical services rendered before accounts are recommended for bad debt. They ensure accurate billing, follow up on unpaid balances, and resolve discrepancies in accounts.

• Operating on a high level of professionalism and strictly adhering to all debt collection rules and regulations
• Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies
• Receive inbound as well as make outbound phone calls to patients assisting with resolving outstanding balances
• Oversee patient billing work and ensuring that payments are collected and posted in a timely fashion
• Assist in the collection process by reviewing accounts and following up on outstanding balances
• Communicate effectively with patients to resolve payment issues
• Document collection efforts and update account statuses in our billing system
• Research and resolve discrepancies related to billing
• Respond to patient inquiries and set up alternative pay plans if necessary
• All other duties as assigned
