Lead Designer, User Experience at Quest Diagnostics
Overview
The Lead User Experience (UX) Designer will create and oversee the thoughtful design of digital products taken from research to prototype. The UX Designer will work as part of Quest’s Strategy and Digital Transformation team and with others across Digital Product Management and Experience Design to identify design problems, devise elegant solutions, inform strategic design and user experience decisions, and rapidly test and iterate designs for clients. The role will drive strategy for designing digital interactions across user journeys and use an iterative process to refine, prototype, test, and communicate solutions. The Lead UX Designer will be a key voice in solving meaningful and complex problems in healthcare, applying human-centered design to create best-in-class experiences that meet user needs and expectations.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of designers in the discovery and defining of quality user experiences for new and ongoing products, mentoring and guiding junior designers, and ensuring alignment with best-in-class practices and standards.
- Maintain ownership of the product vision by providing creative solutions for end-to-end user experiences, facilitating cross-functional team collaboration, driving execution and deliverables, and ensuring product design is in line with company standards.
- Mentor, guide, and partner with designers to achieve the optimal balance of functionality, usability, and quality of the product.
- Provide quality feedback and creative solutions to problems while working with leadership to ensure a high level of quality across all product features.
- Collaborate with product management, business, marketing, engineering, and other designers to define and implement pragmatic solutions for Quest’s digital product experiences.
- Identify and drive user research opportunities to help inform and validate design decisions.
- Create low-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, flow diagrams, and related artifacts to communicate and gain alignment on proposed solutions.
- Provide the user-centered perspective and requirements during Epic and Feature definition.
- Present and defend concepts to peers and executive-level stakeholders to gain alignment and set a path forward.
- Assist UX Researchers in conducting product evaluations and incorporating user feedback into iterations of your design.
- Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards through the design system.
- Advocate and evangelize for design thinking and user-centered design.
- Collaborate with UI designers in the creation of high-fidelity prototypes.
- Identify patterns or opportunities within the product and communicate them with the product team.
- Develop processes / approaches for attacking design problems using known methods and anticipating issues.
- Think strategically across products and experiences, identifying new opportunities based on customer needs that support business objectives.
- Anticipate and recognize technical or product constraints that may impact user experience and facilitate alignment with the product team.
- Conduct competitive research and summarize findings with actionable recommendations.
- On large-scale projects, define the end-to-end experience and coordinate with other designers to ensure dependencies are understood and a world-class product is delivered.
- Lead discussions / workshops with business, marketing, and product stakeholders to define strategic goals and implement them iteratively.
- Recognize patterns or strategic opportunities across products and experiences and drive them forward with product owners.
- Guide and advise external vendors and agencies on UX practices and standards.
- Plan, drive, and facilitate workshops when necessary.
- Anticipate and recognize impacts or opportunities to a customer segment and facilitate alignment sessions with senior leaders.
- Assess new demand, understand UX and research impacts, and draft plans and levels of effort.
- Evaluate vendor proposals or statements of work and guide UX and research needs.
- Onboard new designers to the team and assist in training on company-wide design standards.
Qualifications
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Communications, Web Design, Design Thinking, Design Strategy, or related field.Master's degree preferred.Required Work Experience
Up to 8 years of relevant experience in design of digital product experiences using dedicated design tools (Figma preferred).Demonstrated experience using user research to inform and / or validate design decisions.Experience creating user flows, journey maps, service blueprints, personas, low-fidelity wireframes and / or prototypes.Experience conducting competitive analysis and other relevant research.Preferred Work Experience
Experience working within a SAFe Agile methodology is preferred.Physical And Mental Requirements
