A health services network in New York City is currently seeking a new MRI Technologist to join their growing Radiology Department in Elmhurst. In this role, the MRI Technologist will be resposnbile for performing medically prescribed MRI procedures of designated anatomical areas.
About the Opportunity :
Start Date : ASAP
Assignment Length : 13-week contract
Shift : 4pm-12am and 1pm-9pm
Schedule : 5 shifts per week (rotating Sat & Sun)
Setting : Acute Care
Responsibilities :
Independently implement patient procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards
Explain the procedure and equipment to the patient clearly and obtain consent before all procedures when necessary
Provide for patient comfort before, during and after procedure, and maintains an ongoing rapport with the patient throughout the procedure to ease any anxiety the patient may have
Position patient and MRI equipment appropriate to the body part(s) to be imaged and adjust equipment settings accordingly to insure maximum information is obtained
Follow special instructions indicated on radiographic requisition, ensure that all exams completed are of high quality, uses positioning and immobilizing devices to improve image quality
Alter examination to maximize information in response to patient's condition, confer with Radiologist, nursing and other technologists concerning previous approaches utilized
Perform transmission and / or segmentation for transmission to PACS in a complete and proper anatomic display
Generate high quality hard copies of images, when necessary
Maintain cleanliness of radiographic area and prepare equipment and supplies in advance for future exams
Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications :
1 year MRI experience in a Hospital setting
Associate's Degree from a Radiologic Technology program
Valid license as a Radiologic Technologist issued by NYSDOH
Advanced-Level Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
Associate's Degree from a Radiologic Technology program
Desired Skills :
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
