Job Description
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (Radiation)
Location : Brooklyn, NY
Hours / Days : 5 / 8.5 Hour Shifts; Monday-Friday (8 : 00am-4 : 30pm)

In This Role, You Will
Nursing Standards of Practice
- Deliver care within the scope of practice as defined by the New York State Office of the Professions.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of New York Cancer and Blood Specialists (NYCBS).
- Maintain accurate, real-time documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Support provider visits by recording vital signs, performing medication reconciliation, verifying allergy information in the EHR
- Complete all required continuing education and certification in accordance with NYCBS nursing policy, including LPN Certification and Continuing Education Requirements.
Medication Administration Standards
Administer prescribed medications and treatments using approved nursing techniques and the five rights of medication administration to minimize error.Administer medications within your licensed scope of practice.Follow all infection control and safety standards, including : proper hand hygiene and aseptic technique, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe disposal of hazardous materials and compliance with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen StandardsSurvivorship Planning & Care Coordination
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to implement the patient’s plan of care.Accurately transcribe, document, and execute provider orders in the EHR.Coordinate laboratory and radiology testing, follow-up care, and ongoing treatment needs.Facilitate weekly On-Treatment Visits for radiation therapy and complete post-treatment follow-up calls.Reinforce treatment plans by providing patients and caregivers with education and pre-treatment instructions (e.g., CT simulation prep).Actively support survivorship planning through :Scheduling follow-up appointments and developing a minimum 30-day treatment calendar in collaboration with the care teamManaging patient communications via phone and provider inboxFacilitating prescription refills and requisition / form completionProviding patient education materials and coordinating referrals to wellness and support servicesLiaising with billing, authorization, and financial departments on behalf of patientsAssisting with triage responses based on provider and team communicationsQuality Assurance & Patient Experience
Promote a safe and comfortable care environment for all patients.Advocate for patients and caregivers based on individual needs and responses.Provide culturally sensitive care that respects patient diversity.Participate in daily clinical operations of the infusion suite, including completing assigned duties and side tasks as delegated by the Head Nurse or Supervisor and collaborating with inventory and pharmacy teams to ensure availability of medications and suppliesProfessional Development
Support onboarding and training of new team members in alignment with standardized departmental policies and procedures.We Require
Current NYS LPN license required.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.Successful completion of Radiation / Radiology Safety Competency upon on-boarding and every 6 monthsConsistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.Experience with EMR’sReliable transportation to any of NYCBS location for patient care needsWhat We Offer
