Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant

Our Lactation Department is seeking a skilled nurse focused on helping new Moms through the Lactation process. Is that you?

Work location : Texas Health Plano, 6200 West Parker Road, Plano, Texas 75093

Work hours : Part Time, 24 Hours; 8 : 30am – 9 : 30am start time

Here’s What You Need

Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program

BSN preferred

One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.

One year of Lactation Consultant experience highly preferred

RN – Registered Nurse upon hire required

IBCLC certification required within 12 months

IBCLC upon hire preferred

CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention training required within 90 days and maintained annually

BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

What You Will Do

Function as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians.

Serve as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence.

Produce documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient’s plan of care.

Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care.

Review patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.

Assess outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems

Participate in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
