Mobility Technician Opportunity
UPMC Hamot is hiring a Mobility Technician to join 7 South Oncology!
This position is full-time, Monday-Friday 7am-3 : 30pm
Title and Salary will be determined based upon education and experience.
Purpose : The Mobility Tech would provide routine mobilization of patients within their assigned departments in accordance with established policies and procedures under the direction of the interdisciplinary team (Nurse, Physical / Occupational Therapy, and Physician) to execute the mobilization needs within their patient populations. Mobility techs will routinely perform mobilization responsibilities including : Mobilizing patients to walk the hall, assisting patients to a chair for meals, utilizing lifts to assist bed bound patients to a chair, understand / acquire vital signs as needed, telemetry application, and assisting with basic patient needs (filling water pitchers, assisting to the restroom, setting up meal trays).
Responsibilities :
- Suggests and supports changes within the unit. Takes ownership of assignments and views problems as challenges.
- Understands impact of behavior on unit efficiency. Supports departmental projects and quality initiatives.
- Reports equipment malfunctions appropriately. Builds productive relationships through accountability, enthusiasm, and commitment.
- Assists with patient ambulation tailored to individual needs. Collaborates with Rehabilitation Services and Nursing Staff.
- Seeks help with planning and prioritizing tasks. Participates in self-review when requested.
- Communicates clearly with healthcare team members.
- Understands cultural diversity, workplace dynamics, and professional impairment. Promotes safety for patients and self.
- Communicates effectively with other departments.
- Maintains respectful relationships with staff, patients, and families. Accepts feedback constructively.
- Identifies learning needs and seeks improvement. Notifies RN of changes in patient condition.
- Supports unit activities like call lights, phones, meal trays, and patient transport. Documents activities per procedure.
- Follows safety protocols and standard precautions. Completes work efficiently and adheres to policies.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.Good communication skills. Displays excellent customer service skills.Basic computer knowledge.This position typically reports to Transport Supervisor. May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients.
