Talascend is currently seeking a Fire Protection Integration Engineer for a contract opportunity located in Bellevue, WA.

OVERVIEW :

Our client is seeking a Contractor to support and integrate the fire hazard-related analyses and design teams. The successful candidate will coordinate with engineers working on SSC design for successful integration of input and requirements for nuclear plant fire protection design. Candidates must have extensive experience in fire protection design and analysis, project coordination, peer review, and requirements development for nuclear power projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Coordinate input and requirements from the Engineering and Project teams to support production of the fire hazard analysis and related design and analysis input.
  • Ensure that fire protection licensing and code requirements are clearly established and implemented in the design.
  • Review and develop fire protection design bases for nuclear island structures, considering extreme fire hazards such as seismic-induced fires, large area sodium fires, wildfires, and fires within sodium-containing structures.
  • Support and review plant design cost studies and engineering decisions.
  • Coordinate checking and integrated design reviews, including in-process cross-discipline work, for fire protection work products.
  • Research and develop risk-informed, performance-based methodologies for fire protection design and analyses.
  • Support monitoring and appraisal of design organizations, partners, contractors, and subcontractors' performance to ensure all technical requirements are effectively and correctly implemented.
  • Coordinate and lead planning efforts and maintain schedule adherence for fire protection design activities.
  • Support design reviews and the resolution of cross-functional technical concerns.
  • Support the integration of plant information into fire protection licensing basis and regulatory submittal documents for licensing of nuclear facilities under the Licensing Modernization Project.
  • Support fire protection licensing activities associated with Licensing Applications.
  • Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain high-quality engineering design and proactively identify efficiency and enhancement opportunities.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS :

  • B.S. degree in engineering or equivalent, or higher.
  • 10+ years of fire protection design and analysis experience.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction to solve challenging problems.
  • Strong analytical / problem-solving skills, creative thinking.
  • Experience in Fire Protection Program development and implementation.
  • Experience in multi-discipline and multi-organization design integration.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to technical excellence.
  • Ability to handle projects with many objectives and design constraints, resolving conflicts effectively.
  • Experience working on multiple tasks requiring a multi-disciplinary approach.
  • Experience working to quality standards such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
  • The starting level and title will be determined based on qualifications.
  • The service provider should possess trust, integrity, open communication, respect, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • JOB FUNCTIONS :

    Job functions involve physical actions and working conditions necessary for the role. These may include :

  • Sitting and / or standing for extended periods, bending / stooping, grasping, fine motor control.
  • Minimal physical exertion, with ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged repetitive work.
  • Visual and audio-focused work.
  • Work conditions include stairs, typing, and standard sitting environments for over 8 hours / day.
  • Travel required : 0-5%.
