Our client, a metal roofing, panels & systems manufacture is seeking an inspired and results oriented Outside Sales / Specification Representative to support their distributor partners in the growth of their Building Products business covering Northern Illinois and the state of Wisconsin.

Must live within 40 miles of Chicago.

SUMMARY : Outside Sales reps will call on : commercial architects to get products specified; generate brand awareness with industry professionals, and assist in pull-through sales with the distribution network.

The ideal candidate will have strong commercial exterior building envelope sales experience, ability to read blueprints and perform takeoffs. They also must have strong prospecting, relationship building, and listening skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Call on contractors, architects, distributors, and other customers involved in the construction industry.
  • Identifies and develops customers using a variety of methods and sources, including but not limited to construction bulletins, internal CRM, and networking at industry events and trade shows.
  • Quoting and negotiating projects to customers, in conjunction with the inside sales support staff.
  • Provides technical service and support to customers as needed.
  • Conducts AIA / CES presentations, to architects, specification writers and engineers.
  • Conducts educational presentations to contractors and distributors.
  • Attends industry regional association and distributor product shows, as well as national trade shows.

EXPERIENCE :

  • Minimum of 5 years Building Material Outside Sales experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years commercial exterior building envelope experience.
  • Regularly perform AIA presentations.
  • Ability to read technical documents, including blueprints and specifications.
  • Have sold a high-end non-commodity product.
  • Have commercial architect contacts (huge plus).
  • Proficient with Microsoft products and CRM systems.
  • Clean and valid driver’s license.
  • Bachelor’s degree or a min of 5-years’ exact experience.
  • All potential employees are required to do a drug test, credit report, driving record check.
