Overview
IT / Cyber Systems Administrator on a volunteer basis to support and maintain our critical information systems and infrastructure. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about public safety, cybersecurity, and technology, looking to give back to their community by enhancing the digital resilience of emergency services.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain internal IT systems, servers, workstations, and network equipment
- Manage firehouse software platforms (e.g., incident reporting, scheduling, training systems)
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices to protect sensitive data
- Manage backups and disaster recovery procedures
- Provide basic IT support to department personnel and assist with training as needed
- Document systems, procedures, and access controls
Qualifications
Experience in IT systems administration, networking, or cybersecurity (professional or self-taught)Familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, G-Suite, and Ubiquiti Network equipmentUnderstanding of cybersecurity principles and risk managementAbility to pass a background check (required for access to sensitive systems)Strong problem-solving and communication skillsPrior experience with emergency services is a plus but not requiredBenefits
