Road Maintenance Worker

Notice is hereby given that the City of New Franklin is seeking to fill an open position for Full-time Road Maintenance Worker. Appointed by the Mayor to perform physical labor aimed at maintaining and repairing City roads; cleaning and digging ditches; removing snow, ice, and debris from roadways; maintaining the City's facilities, buildings, cemeteries, and parks.

Qualifications : Applicants must be at least 18 years of age; must possess a high school diploma; must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio Commercial Driver's License (minimum CDL-B); must meet good driving record requirements; must have prior experience in construction and maintenance work; must have a working knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of trucks, tractors and heavy equipment; must be able to perform physical labor (i.e. standing, bending, lifting, sitting, etc.) for long periods of time; must be able to work in adverse weather conditions; must be available for on-call emergency situations (i.e. snow and ice control); must be able to follow complex oral and written instructions, read maps and documents; must be able to communicate politely and effectively with supervisors, coworkers and the public.

Applicants may be further subject to passing a complete background investigation, including examination of criminal / driving record; physical, medical, psychological and polygraph examination; drug testing; and other requirements as may be provided for in the Job Description and the New Franklin Personnel Policy and Procedures Manual. Employees must satisfactorily complete a six-month probationary period and will be subject to random drug testing, according to CDL regulations.
