What to Expect (Job Responsibilities) :

  • Evaluate and handle all underwriting aspects of formal and informal life insurance applications
  • Determine acceptance, modification, or decline of risks based on medical history, occupational hazards, and financial background
  • Deliver competitive offers to drive sales and facilitate business placement
  • Communicate underwriting decisions effectively to customers and third-party firms
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather necessary information for decision-making and risk selection

    • What is Required (Qualifications) :

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of life insurance underwriting experience
  • Minimum established life insurance underwriting authority limit of $3 million
  • 3+ years of expert knowledge in risk selection, including medical and non-medical factors
  • Knowledge of underwriting guidelines, best practices, and administrative systems

    • How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications) :

  • 5+ years of underwriting experience with up to $5 million life approval limit
  • Completion of industry exams such as FLMI, FALU, CLU, or ChFC
  • Experience in term and permanent life insurance underwriting
  • Background in third-party distribution or reinsurance
  • Ability to think critically and problem-solve effectively in a team environment
