A Brief Overview
The advanced practice provider (APP) provides patient centered, specialized, evidence based care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education and advocacy. APP's are board-certified providers that assume responsibility and accountability for health stabilization, promotion, and maintenance of acute and chronic illness or injury. This role contributes to the mission and vision of the organization by being accountable for the delivery of compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Nebraska state statues, administrative code and organization bylaws. The APP is committed to a culture of clinical excellence, respect, innovation, and academic inquiry through collaborative practice with all members of the care delivery team.
Essential Functions
Responsible for providing safe, comprehensive and compassionate clinical care. ◦ Assesses patient, synthesizes and analyzes data, orders diagnostic tests and therapeutic treatments, and evaluates clinical outcomes. ◦ Seeks and integrates the perspectives of interprofessional team members in developing and implementing the plan of care. ◦ Preforms diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; prescribes medications and complex medical regimes while monitoring for desired and adverse outcomes, specific to the infant / child with high risk, complex acute, critical, or chronic conditions.

Skills and Abilities
Satisfy all relevant criteria and qualifications outlined in the Medical Staff Policy on Allied Health Professional, required to be credentialed.
Maintains practice agreement with service of specialty, and practices within framework of respective scope of practice.
Must be knowledgeable in billing regulation practices to include documentation requirements / CPT coding regulations.
Knowledge of physical, mental, developmental, emotional and social needs of the neonate, infant, toddler, pre-school, school age and adolescent patients
Maintains current knowledge and skill level in field through reading appropriate journals, networking, and attendance at conferences or seminars.
Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure, and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with multiple disciplines.
Ability to be self-directed, with minimum supervision, and detail oriented.

APRN-BC - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Board Certified Upon Hire Required and
PNP-BC - Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Upon Hire Required or
CPNP-AC - Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care (PICU, CCU, Neonatology) Upon Hire Required and
BLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Upon Hire Required and
PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 180 Days Required and
DEA License within 30 Days Required and
NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation (NICU and Neonatology only) within 1 Year Required and
ACLS (CCU only) within 180 Days Required
