About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Must-Have :

• Acute / inpatient hospital experience
• Good de-escalation and strong communication skills
• Adolescent experience preferred

Description :

This unit has 25 licensed beds, currently utilizing adult and adolescent beds.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 3 : 1 for adults and 6 : 1 for adolescents.

Common diagnoses include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, psychosis, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and behavioral disorders.

Experience with IVs is very rare; travelers do not need to have that experience.

Travelers are not typically expected to take on charge roles.

Mechanical restraints and seclusion are rarely used on this unit.

Mental health technicians are available and may work with a ratio of 2 for 9 patients.

Occupational therapy is provided Monday through Friday, along with social work support.

Respiratory therapy is in-house and provides necessary treatments.

There are no tele / monitor techs; RNs are not required to read their own strips.

Shifts are self-scheduled based on seniority.

Weekend requirements are every other weekend, and holiday requirements are every other holiday.

Floating is required throughout the facility as helping hands or 1 : 1s.

The dress code is business casual, except for maroon colors.

Two shifts of unit-specific orientation will be provided.

This is the only child and adolescent inpatient unit in the region.

It is a locked unit, with emergency buttons for security.

Nurses are expected to be actively involved in patient care and do 15-minute rounds.

Attributes that help make a nurse successful in this unit include patience and a calm demeanor.

Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius.

Requests for time off must be submitted up front and are limited.

Additional requests will not be approved.

The charting system used is EPIC.

A BSN is not required for submission.

This is an acute care setting with a trauma level of 2.
