The City of Lincoln, Alabama is seeking a highly motivated and reliable individual with a strong aptitude in customer service to join our Library team as a full-time Library Clerk. Reporting to the Library Director, the Library Clerk is responsible for customer service, assisting library customers with finding library resources, account help, answering general questions, plan and conduct patron programs, and providing basic technology assistance. In addition, this role will focus on children's programming.

FUNCTIONS / DUTIES (include, but not limited to) :
Conduct general office administrative and clerical tasks such as greeting patrons and customers, answering phones, issuing library cards, checking library materials in and out, reserves library materials, explains library order, etc.
Assist customers with accessing and using library resources (books, databases, computers, etc.) and computer questions related to Microsoft Office products, internet navigation, email services, third party web sites and other software applications on public computers.
Develop, plan and conduct customer programs / classes on a wide range of topics (computer, research, language, literacy, discussion groups, book clubs, tours, story-times, etc.) for all ages.
Focus on children's programing by planning and conducting special programs and activities for school aged children.
Create and maintains displays, bulletin boards, and other merchandising efforts.
Proactively ensure that library space is neat and organized (e.g. furniture and equipment is in order, shelves are well organized, displays are creative and refreshed regularly).
All other related job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Must be a graduate from an accredited high school or hold a certificate of high school equivalency (GED).
Experience in library operations is considered an asset.
Must possess intermediate computer skills with knowledge of common office software and willingness to learn special software for library operations.
Must possess a valid Alabama driver's license and a driving record suitable for insurability.
Must be willing to work non-standard hours which may include evenings and weekends. Overtime is required of this role.
Must be willing to travel overnight to attend continuing education courses and workshops.
Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position to include, but not limited to : move and lift materials of 35 pounds; stoop, bend and lift to file and retrieve materials; work in an environment with books that contain dust and other allergens.
HOURS OF WORK :
Hours of work may vary. Evenings and weekends will be required of this role.
SALARY :
The wage range for this position is $14.33 to $17.51 per hour. The starting wage for this position will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
