Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Medical Acute Care unit with night shifts and Illinois licensure required.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a 20-bed Medical Acute Care unit within an acute care hospital setting
  • General medical patient population, including some patients on telemetry monitored with Phillips equipment
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 5 / 6 on night shift
  • 12-hour night shifts with a schedule that includes every other weekend
  • Rotating holiday requirement covering 3 out of 6 major holidays annually
  • Travel RNs are first to float, with floating based on rotation afterward
  • Unit is supported by charge nurse and house supervisor 24 / 7, and patient care techs with defined ratios
  • Uses Epic EMR for all charting and documentation
  • No vents managed on this unit
  • Centralized monitoring station with monitor techs; RNs are not required to interpret telemetry strips
  • Scrub color is not specified, no color preference enforced
  • Dedicated unit orientation is provided prior to starting on the floor
  • Travelers are given preference for floating assignments
  • Patient care techs are present on all shifts to assist the nursing team

  • Active IL RN license or proof of application in progress
  • Minimum of one year recent medical-surgical nursing experience
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • General medical / surgical background preferred
  • Ability to pass a drug screen as required for a drug-free campus
