Overview

An Electrical Trimble Technician plays a key role in bridging Building Information Modeling (BIM) with on-site construction. Using advanced Trimble GPS and robotic total station equipment, this position ensures precise layout and installation of electrical systems by transferring data points from BIM models to the field. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and strong collaboration with project teams to guarantee accurate installations and resolve design-to-field discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities

Field Layout & As-Built Verification : Utilize Trimble GPS and robotic total stations to establish layout points for conduits, hangers, and equipment, and collect as-built field data.

BIM Integration : Translate 3D BIM model data (from software such as Revit) into physical layout points for accurate construction execution.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance : Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Trimble hardware and associated software, ensuring smooth data transfer between field and office teams.

Quality Assurance : Conduct equipment checks, verify layout accuracy, and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Technical Support : Serve as a resource for layout information, providing field feedback to resolve conflicts between model data and site conditions.

Team Collaboration : Work closely with project managers, BIM / CAD designers, and field crews to coordinate layout activities and keep projects on schedule.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proficiency with Trimble GPS and robotic total station equipment.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and codes.

Familiarity with BIM workflows and software, such as Revit or Navisworks.

Strong problem-solving skills to address layout challenges and model discrepancies.

Excellent communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all company policies.

Physical ability to lift and carry equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work on active construction sites for extended periods.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift and transport Trimble equipment up to 50 pounds.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, and working in varying construction site conditions.
