Medical Assistant Coordinator

As an essential part of the care team, the Medical Assistant Coordinator acts as a 'Telehealth Concierge'. In a customer service-oriented manner, interviews patients and / or their representative to collect required data, to include but is not limited to; demographic and financial data as well as obtain required signatures, communicates mandated patient information and verifies all information for accuracy. Process includes but is not limited to insurance verification, obtaining precertification / authorization, co-payment collection and communicating with patient and / or their representative about their financial assistance needs. Works closely with providers within the telehealth program. Provides patients with technical assistance when needed.

Responsibilities :

  • Facilitates Telehealth services by assisting providers and educating patients on available options; demonstrates working knowledge of Telehealth applications and EHR software (e.g., Care Connect).
  • Manages high call volume professionally by providing accurate information, gathering required documentation, and addressing concerns with a positive, solutions-focused attitude.
  • Coordinates insurance verification and secures necessary authorizations / pre-certifications; ensures compliance with all regulatory and departmental standards.
  • Schedules and pre-schedules patient appointments, maintaining thorough and accurate patient records in alignment with HIPAA privacy regulations.
  • Provides general technology support related to internet connectivity and virtual visit troubleshooting, offering live assistance as needed.
  • Collaborates with off-site staff for seamless care coordination and timely follow-up; may serve as interpreter when qualified.
  • Completes additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the team and ensure quality patient care.

Required Qualifications :

  • None.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • AAS in Medical Assisting preferred
  • One to two years of experience in a medical setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Intermediate computer / technology skills

    Physical Requirements :

    S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.     Pay Range : $17.65 - $19.30
