Encore Village of Schaumburg is currently hiring for a Life Enrichment Manager.

DESCRIPTION :

Under the direction of the Director of Lifestyles the Life Enrichment Manager will direct and manage the activities program in the Briarwood Health Care Center including long term care, short term rehab and memory care programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES : Programming :

Assess recreational needs of residents based on their cognitive and physical capabilities and recreational interests.

Design and schedule activities which meet the physical, cognitive and physical capabilities and recreational interests of the residents.

With input from Briarwood Life Enrichment staff creates, calendars to meet the needs of residents in each area of the Health Care Center.

Supervise activity programming for Health Care Center residents and analyze for appropriateness.

Participates in QAPI and other IDT meetings as assigned.

Works collaboratively with administration to meet resident centered goals including creating a neighborhood feel within the HCC.

Works collaboratively with the Lifestyles Department to provide a cross-campus activities programming.

Serves as Staff Liaison to the Resident Council and facilitates Town Hall meetings including maintaining meeting minutes.

Collaborates with Lifestyles Department and the IDT in Healthcare to develop programs and recreational offerings in line with company / team initiatives and goals.

Plans external and / or internal outings and supports community connections for HCC residents through relationships with community and campus groups.

Staffing

Hire, train, supervise and evaluate Life Enrichment   assistants in the HCC so that programming goals for residents are met.

Schedule activity staff so that activities are provided   days per week.

Provide additional training related to programming, procedures and documentation to Life Enrichment personnel as needed.

Regulations / Documentation / Management

Supervise Life Enrichment documentation for all HCC residents, including assessments, MDS, CAAs , Care Plans and participation and ensure that charting for residents is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Maintains regulatory compliance for IDPH regulations for Activity Departments and staff.

Maintains communication with families regarding resident participation in activities, including participation and / or feed back provided in Care Conferences.

Coordinate efforts between interdisciplinary team to provide optimum individualized care for residents.

Work with DON to encourage CNA interaction with Life Enrichment staff in HCC.

Supports community provision of religious services.

Work with Volunteer Manager in placement, orientation, and supervision of volunteers in the HCC.

Orders supplies and hires entertainers to support programming within established budget guidelines. Submits expenses and budget report as required.

Maintains recreational materials and supplies to maintain safety, sanitation and promote structured and independent recreation.

Responsible for maintaining a homelike and professional environment within the healthcare center that supports resident engagement, including organization and maintenance of activity spaces, outdoor garden areas, bulletin boards ad seasonal décor.

Promotes the Life Enrichment’s role in maintaining quality of life through positive and professional communication with residents, staff and guests.

Promotes community programs through photos and information for social media releases.

All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Physical Activities :

  • Frequently standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, bending, reaching, feeling, grasping, reaching with hands and arms, tasting, and smelling.
  • Occasionally squatting, twisting, driving, climbing stairs, ladders, or other climbing or balancing, crouching, and crawling.

Range of Motion :

  • Frequently being able to move shoulder and above height as well as occasionally being able to move from waist-shoulder and waist and below height.
  • Weight Lifting Requirements :

  • Frequently being able to lift up to 25 lbs; however, being able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Vision Requirements :

  • Constantly being able to look at a computer monitor.
  • Frequently being able to utilize color vision (identifying and distinguishing colors), peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Environmental Exposure :

  • Occasionally being exposed to biohazard materials, body fluids / blood, chemical hazards, and animals (laboratory or other).
  • Occasionally operating a motor vehicle.
  • Required to wear protective clothing.
  • QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

    Education :

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Illinois Activity Director’s Course (36 hours) required
  • CTRS certification preferred.
  • 10 hours of continuing education annually required.
  • Experience :

  • 3-5 years experience in senior activities –preferred.
  • Training and experience in serving residents living with dementia
  • Supervisory experience of direct care staff (2 years minimum).
  • Working knowledge of IDPH regulations.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

    Potential exposure to communicable diseases.

    Must be able to work with ill, disabled elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.

    Ability and willingness to work more than usual hours when needed, possibly during a different shift, weekends or holidays.

  • Capable of maintaining regular attendance.
  • Meet all local health regulations and pass post offer pre-employment physical exam, if required, which may include drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry.
  • Capable of performing the responsibilities and essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information.
  • Able to remain calm and respond appropriately and in a timely manner to emergency situations.
  • Ability to lead large groups.
