Job Summary :
The Controlled Environments Team is seeking a motivated and responsible Greenhouse Technician to support research operations at our four-acre facility in Johnston, Iowa. This role contributes to agricultural innovation by supporting daily greenhouse functions and research activities in a safe, professional, and compliant environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Participate in pollinating wheat within controlled environments as part of a dedicated team.
- Perform daily plant care activities including seeding, pollinating, transplanting, watering, harvesting, and seed handling for wheat and other crops.
- Collect and prepare plant tissue samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring sample integrity, even with large volumes.
- Assist with research experiments, data collection, and accurate record-keeping.
- Maintain greenhouse sanitation by properly disposing of regulated materials and waste.
Required Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED required.Two or more years of relevant experience preferred.Strong attention to detail and strict adherence to safety protocols.Excellent organizational and communication skills; able to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn internal research software.Ability to perform repetitive tasks, stand or sit for extended periods, and lift at least 30 lbs.Comfortable working in warm, humid greenhouse conditions with year-round pollen exposure.Willingness to work safely with common chemicals and adhere to safety guidelines.Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant sciences, or a related field.Education : High School
