Family Practice Physician Job In Florida. Valor Healthcare is looking for a passionate Primary Care Physician to join our team at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Okeechobee.

About Us

Valor Healthcare operates over 50 VA Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in the United States as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Valor provides a full range of medical services to veterans through the operation of CBOCs, tailored to meet the specific needs of local VA medical centers. Our comprehensive set of services includes primary care, diagnostics, laboratory, telehealth, behavioral health, and more.

Responsibilities

  • As a Primary Care Physician, provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients with diseases and injuries in the clinic, as directed by the physician or mid-level provider.
  • Collaborate with the core PACT Team (Primary Care Provider, RN and Medical Assistant) and expanded PACT Team including family / caregiver, VA, and community-based services involved in developing the patient care plan.
  • Actively diagnose and treat veterans.
  • Examine patients for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders, determine nature and extent of injury / disorder, and perform comprehensive physical examinations.
  • Develop and implement patient management plans and assist in provision of continuity of care.
  • Order and perform diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribe medications and recommend dietary and activity programs as indicated by diagnosis.
  • Counsel patients on the use of prescription medications, educate patients, assess mental health issues, and provide routine health maintenance.
  • Evaluate patients' records from medical providers outside the VA and coordinate care under VA guidelines.
  • Complete clinical reminders and documentation of the medical record within required timeframes.
  • Solicit medical management consult or input when appropriate.
  • Adhere to VA guidelines for appropriate and timely response to patient requests, alerts, notifications, and results.
  • Comply with VA formulary processes and consult protocols.
  • Collaborate with mid-level providers where appropriate and needed.
  • Maintain clinical documentation standards, including timely completion of encounters.
  • Address clinical needs of walk-in / triage / urgent care patients.
  • Comply with VA and company training requirements and women's health certification where applicable.
  • Fulfill compliance requirements of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Joint Commission (JC), Environment of Care (EOC) oversight, lab compliance, and related items.
  • Aim for excellent clinical outcomes through VA guidelines and provide excellent customer service to veterans, colleagues, and clinic visitors.
  • Participate in the clinic\'s outreach events to support enrollment initiatives and assist with scheduling, follow-up visits, or nurse visits as needed.
  • Support new clinical or operational initiatives that drive Valor\'s success.
  • Qualifications

  • 4+ years clinical medical practice; government healthcare environment preferred; specific requirements may vary based on individual VA contract.
  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine Degree
  • Board certified in family practice or internal medicine
  • Must be credentialed and remain in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA).
  • Must maintain a valid, unrestricted license in the state of desired employment, or in any U.S. state or territory, depending on VA contractual requirements.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (valid for two years) and ACLS as specified by contract
  • Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Excellent computer skills
