As an Emergency Department Telephone Registration Patient Access Representative, you will provide a comprehensive set of business and financial related services during the patient access process on the day the patient arrives at Main Campus Hospital to receive healthcare services. You will work directly with diverse populations of patients collecting their financial, insurance, medical, and demographic information to check them in, complete their registration, and leave a positive, lasting impression. A caregiver in this position works remotely, part-time from 10 : 00 a.m.9 : 00 p.m., with rotating weekend and holiday requirements. Training consists of 90 days, in person, full time at Main Campus.
Responsibilities
Perform registration and obtain information about demographics, insurance, medical and financial.
Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.
Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.
Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing role OR an Associate's Degree and one year of experience OR a Bachelor's Degree. Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year. Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Call center experience strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods. Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment. In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system. In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
