Position Summary
The Job Developer will have the unique opportunity to work with the Refugee Services team. This role is responsible for identifying and developing new employment opportunities for refugees. The Job Developer will also have the opportunity to cultivate relationships with area employers that are interested in hiring refugees in order to increase employment placements.
Main Responsibilities
Develop a “marketing strategy” to target potential employers.Work with area partners to identify potential employers.Contact new companies in order to promote the hiring of refugees.Review relevant employment websites daily.Review employment periodicals on a weekly basis.Utilize IM’s existing network of partners and supporters to identify potential employers.Follow-up with interested companies through personal visits and meetings.Share information about interested companies with staff in Refugee Services Employment.Collect all information gathered in a database of potential employers.Maintain a case file on each client in accordance with contract requirements.Provide pre-employment orientation and counseling to clients and assist them in securing employment.Perform data entry throughout client’s enrollments and as needed.Follow-up with clients and employers throughout the process at 30, 60 and 90 days.Provide transportation as needed to job interviews for refugees eligible for employment services.Provide transportation for newly hired clients on a daily basis.Assist with employment services for all state employment, resettlement, and matching grant contracts.Document employment services in employment and resettlement files.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree is required with one year of related experience or high school diploma with 4 years of related experience.One year of previous experience working with refugees or previous experience working in recruiting, staffing and job placements is required.Must have knowledge of the Houston area and the Houston job market.Must enjoy working in a diverse office environment with clients of all backgrounds and field work
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Must be able to speak, read, and write English. Bilingual in Spanish is required.Energetic, self-motivated team player.Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).High degree of independent judgment, flexibility and problem-solving skills.Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some late nights and weekends.Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance.Must have current vehicle inspection sticker and vehicle registration.IMGH is an Equal Opportunity employer.
