Job Description
Our client is a national engineering firm recognized for delivering innovative solutions across multiple disciplines and generating revenue of more than $500M. They are seeking a detail-oriented Procurement Assistant with construction or engineering industry experience to support purchasing and supply chain activities that keep construction projects running efficiently and on schedule. This role involves sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, tracking deliveries, and ensuring accurate inventory and cost control. The ideal candidate has prior experience in construction procurement, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with ERP accounting software. This position is on-site in Hayward, CA. This is a 3–6-month project due to growth and potential temp to hire.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist with sourcing suppliers, obtaining quotes, and evaluating bids for construction materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
- Generate and manage purchase orders and invoices
- Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure timely material deliveries to job sites.
- Track incoming shipments and reconcile deliveries with purchase orders.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels of tools, materials, and consumables across multiple job sites.
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain up-to-date supplier records.
- Ensure all purchases align with corporate guidelines and project timelines.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of cost reports and procurement logs.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and vendor optimization.
- Ensure compliance with procurement procedures, insurance requirements, and vendor qualifications.
- Provide administrative support to the procurement and project management teams.
Required Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent2+ years of purchasing or procurement-related experienceProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and general computer applicationsExperience in the engineering or construction industry
