Director of Risk Management

Jobe Materials, L.P. (“Jobe Materials”) is seeking a Director of Risk Management

Jobe Materials is a family-owned ready-mix concrete, asphalt, and construction aggregates supplier operating in West Texas and Southern New Mexico with over 700 employees. The company also manufactures precast and prestressed concrete products, and operates three railyards that provide track space for transloading activities and railcar storage. The company operates its own quarries to produce its own aggregates, and has its own fleet of trucks for delivery of its materials.

Responsibilities :

  • In conjunction with in-house counsel, lead the design and administration of the company’s insurance programs, including property, liability, workers' compensation, and other relevant coverages.
  • Develop, coordinate and manage all claims processes and ensure proper coordination with external legal teams. Resolve some claims internally when feasible. Utilize post loss reduction techniques such as salvage and subrogation.
  • Administer and oversee all workers’ compensation claims. Build, maintain, and manage relationships with claims adjusters, insurers, and other claims related parties.
  • Collaborating with in-house counsel on potential litigation and liability issues, and advising company management on risk exposure and mitigation strategies.
  • Establish and maintain compliance for all Certificates of Insurance, ensuring that all third parties and vendors meet necessary insurance requirements for their activities.
  • Enhance, maintain, and routinely update all equipment, automobile, and property insurance schedules.
  • Overseeing risk management budgets, including insurance premiums, claims reserves, and risk mitigation project funding.
  • Overseeing insurance policy renewals, including the evaluation and implementation of strategic captive programs.
  • Coordinate with Safety Department on post-incident investigation best practices and procedures.
  • Partner with Safety Department and Operations to implement risk reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on updated federal and state regulatory changes for business risk management practices.
  • Other responsibilities as delegated and determined by senior management.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Risk Management or a related field. Associates in Risk Management (ARM) designation is preferred.
  • At least eight years of experience in risk management, insurance, claims, and / or litigation management.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations, claims management, and risk control practices.
  • Experience implementing and overseeing Certificate of Insurance programs
  • Four years of experience in a leadership or management role is preferred
  • Prior experience in the construction industry is preferred, especially knowledge of insurance programs related to construction activities.
  • Adjuster’s License in the State of Texas or State of New Mexico is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM) are preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to be a team-player and work across multiple departments to implement risk management practices.
  • Bilingual skills are preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Valid Driver’s License is required
  • Salary Range :

    Salary will be based on experience.
