Responsibilities
- Support air quality compliance for assigned generating station locations, obtaining a deep understanding of permit requirements and proactively addressing potential concerns.
- Maintain the overall health of continuous emissions monitoring data and report the data to the appropriate regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and submit annual criteria pollutant and greenhouse gas inventories.
- Ensure that construction and operating permit applications are timely submitted and permits are obtained, with a thorough understanding of regulations applicable to the electric utility industry.
- Collaborate with the plant environmental compliance coordinator to complete all monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting as specified in permits.
- Collaborate effectively with both internal and external partners.
Education and Experience
Education and Experience :
Preferred candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in sciences, engineering, or a related technical field from an ABET accredited program.Ideal candidate will have at least five years of relevant experience dealing with air quality regulations, preferably those directly related to electrical generating power plants.Experience in developing annual emissions inventories, Title V compliance reports, continuous emissions monitoring data / reporting, and applying for and obtaining construction and operating permits is desired.Entry-level candidates will be considered.Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Self-starter with the ability to think independently, understanding that the end goal is compliance with regulatory requirements.Advanced problem-solving skills, researching technical and complex regulatory issues and analyzing the impacts of findings as they relate to Evergy operations.Advanced verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to listen, gather information, convey complex regulatory information to internal and external stakeholders, and review complex technical permits and reports.Excellent organizational skills.Working knowledge of State and Federal air quality regulations and the ability to interpret applicable compliance requirements.Ability to perform emission calculations.Working knowledge of construction and operating permit requirements applicable in Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma.Ability to multi-task, keeping numerous projects and initiatives moving forward simultaneously.Working Conditions
Normal office working conditions with some periodic travel to the plants.
