Job Description

Hoffman Construction is seeking a QA / QC Field Engineer. This individual will be an integral member of the on-site Quality Department, providing essential support throughout the lifecycle of a hyper-scaled data center construction project. Reporting to the High-Tech Program Quality Manager, the role will work closely with site leadership and cross-functional teams to manage day-to-day site activities, quality control efforts on site, including document review during preconstruction and construction. The QA / QC Engineer plays a critical role, including inspecting the project generally, including specific scopes, during the offsite fabrication, construction, commissioning, and punch list phases of the project - working to bring all issues to closure. This position will collaborate with design professionals, clients, trade contractors and craftspeople to address complex coordination issues; you are on the front line in identifying, preventing, and solving technical problems across multiple scopes in a complex mission-critical environment. This position will be fully at the project site near Amarillo, Texas. Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following :

Schedule and coordinate inspectors, trade contractors, and associated personnel

Perform onsite inspections in assigned scope (electrical, mechanical, utilities, civil / architectural / structural, commissioning, etc.)

Attend and provide details for QA / QC Meeting and Quality Team Meeting

Ensure all trade contractors are following their approved QA / QC Plans

Ensure all trade contractors are installing work in accordance with project documents, applicable codes and standards, and best work practices.

Perform offsite and onsite inspections of Owner Furnished Equipment

Must be able to interpret and implement proper installations in compliance with all local authority permitting, codes, and site specifications.

Provide clear communication, verbally, written, and electronically.

Collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.

Salary Range $93,600.00 - $139,776.00

Qualifications

We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines. The successful candidate will possess :

Professional Experience and Education

Minimum 2 years' construction QA / QC experience.

Proven experience Structural engineer, erector, and / or inspection experience.

Concrete pre-install, install, and / or inspection experience is preferred.

Site and architectural installation and / or inspection experience is preferred.

Strong working knowledge of and competency in Field Management Software (BIM360 Field, Procore, Latista, etc.)

High School diploma or GED required.

Bachelor of science in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, structural engineering, construction management or equivalent degree and / or equivalent craft level work experience.

Position Related Skills

A strong commitment to quality compliance with OSHA standards and site-specific requirements.

Ability to work closely with trade and craft people in a field work situation. Patience and professionalism are essential to being able to maintain a cooperative attitude through pressure situations.

Ability to manage several work activities at once while frequently interrupted by phone calls and urgent questions on work in progress.

Advanced visual observation and interpretation skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to work closely with clients, architects, engineers, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors.

Must be a dedicated team player, self-starter, flexible and able to work well with a variety of personalities and minimal instruction. Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations is required.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.

Physical and Mental Requirements :

Standing / Walking / Sitting : Workday is a combination of being stationary and moving about the work location.

Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.

Must be able to climb stairs, to ascend and descend ladders, scaffold, inspect confined or underground spaces.

Hands / Arms : Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery. Frequently operates machinery and will use hand / fingers and legs to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, and position materials.

Sight : Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus in an outdoor environment. Must be able to safely operate a vehicle with a valid driver's license. The work is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading print and digital documents.

Hearing : Must be able to work in proximity to loud equipment mor than 75% of the time. Mst be able to wear hearing protection, as necessary. Often required to communicate with customers and co-workers in an office setting and on the job site.

Speech : Ability to communicate laws, ordinances, plans, regulations, protocols, directives, and standard operating procedures related to project scope in English.

Lift / Carry : Must have the ability to lift or manipulate fifty pounds to a height of three feet and carry or push it 50-100 feet.

Bending / Twisting : Frequent.

Kneeling / Crouching / Crawling : Must be able to regularly position self in a kneeling, crouching or crawling position for purpose of examining project work.

Must be able to physically access all areas and levels of construction site for work progress review.

Work schedule must be flexible to allow for extended hours or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences.

Must use independent judgment, organizational and critical thinking skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results.
