About the Role :
The Oncology Nurse Practitioner will provide specialized care to hematology-oncology patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. You'll work collaboratively with physicians and a multidisciplinary team, following established treatment protocols, triaging patients, and managing complex care needs, including chemotherapy side effects and oncologic emergencies.
You will also serve as a key representative of the oncology team, building relationships with patients, families, and the broader community. Whether you're providing patient education, assisting with procedures, or overseeing clinic operations, every day brings meaningful and impactful work.
Key Responsibilities :
Triage patient calls and coordinate care with physicians and other providersEvaluate and treat acute patient issues, including oncologic emergencies and chemotherapy complicationsPerform histories, physicals, and develop plans of care in collaboration with supervising physiciansProvide pre-treatment chemotherapy education and ongoing patient supportAssist with infusion center procedures and manage first-response care for infusion-related emergenciesCollaborate on medical protocols, quality initiatives, and policy reviewServe as a mentor and resource for office staff and participate in oncology-focused committeesQualifications :
Licensed Nurse Practitioner in Tennessee with certification by the American Nurses Association (ANA) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)Certification in Oncology (OCN) preferredExperience in hematology-oncology care is a plusStrong collaboration, teamwork, and relationship-building skillsLocations :
Oak Ridge : Primarily an inpatient role with opportunity to build strong hospital relationshipsLenoir City : Primarily outpatient role with occasional inpatient consults; opportunity to independently oversee clinic one day per week and participate in upcoming facility expansionLife in East Tennessee :
