About the Operation

MDS Mine is located 45km southeast of the Central Queensland town of Springsure and is a successful 1.5 million tonne per annum Open Cut Truck and Shovel operation. The main coal seam is between 11 and 108 meters deep with an average thickness of 6.9 meters. Coal is processed onsite and trucked to the train load-out facility off-site.

About the Role

An opportunity now exists at Meteor Downs South Mine (MDS) open-cut operation for a passionate Open Cut Examiner (OCE). The opportunity is yours to lead and develop operators while monitoring onsite activities to ensure compliance with the SHMS. This frontline leadership position is responsible for managing the safe production activities of coal, coaching and mentoring employees to further their development and supporting the business in achieving our financial and production objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Driving a Safety-First working environment
• Providing leadership and direction to team members
• Monitoring onsite activities to ensure compliance with the Safety & Health Management System including undertaking routine day-to-day safety audits, inspections and risk assessments
• Conducting regular safety briefings with mining personnel
• Investigate and report all incidents in a timely manner and participate in accident / incident investigations where the incident occurred whilst on duty.
