Position Description

HOH is seeking an experienced Electrical Manager to lead and develop our Electrical Engineering Department. This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois with 10+ years of experience in electrical design and departmental leadership.

The Electrical Manager will be responsible for overseeing technical and administrative operations, providing strategic direction and ensuring that all electrical engineering projects meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This individual should have a strong background in electrical engineering systems, codes, and design software, along with proven leadership skills to mentor staff, manage performance, and foster a collaborative team environment.

The role includes managing budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring successful project delivery and serving as the primary liaison with clients and project stakeholders. HOHs electrical engineering work spans municipal, transportation, commercial, and industrial utilizing both traditional and alternative delivery methods. As part of a multidisciplinary in-house team, the Electrical Manager will play a key role in developing and delivering innovative, technical sound, and cost-effective design solutions.

Core Responsibilities :

  • Team Leadership : Guide, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers, fostering a collaborative, high-performance and growth-oriented work environment.
  • Project Management : Oversee projects from concept through completion, including defining technical requirements, establishing schedules and managing budgets and resources.
  • Technical Oversight : Ensure electrical designs and systems meet high standards of functionality, safety, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication : Act as the primary point of contact, maintaining clear communication with clients, leadership, and project stakeholders, while providing regular progress updates and resolving issues proactively.
  • Compliance : Ensure all designs comply with applicable Federal, State, and Local codes, as well as industry best practices.
  • Technical Design Skills : Design power and lighting systems for vertical construction associated with various building types such as Commercial, Educational, Healthcare, Industrial utilizing software packages such as SKM and AGI32.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Electrical Engineering in the State of Illinois.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 + years in electrical design and leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
  • Proficiency with Revit, and AutoCAD
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
