Position Summary :
The Foreperson is responsible for directing and supervising field production crews, ensuring efficient and effective execution of tasks related to outdoor container plant production. This role involves collaboration with the Production Department Head and works closely with other farm forepersons, irrigation, inventory, plant health, and maintenance staff to achieve production goals while maintaining quality standards and safety compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Responsible for assisting the Department Head with all aspects of outdoor container plant production, which includes but is not limited to the following :Directing crews and monitoring different tasks related to growing and plant maintenance such as trimming, spacing and consolidation.
Responsible for maintaining accurate records and metrics of specific production tasks as directed by the Dept Head.Monitor workplace activity and processes to always assure maximum productivity.Works with the Dept Head on land planning and preparing ground for new plantings and crop rotations.Evaluate team performance, monitor attendance, review timecards, and address promotions, discipline, and personnel matters.Works with the Department Head on sequencing and prioritizing workload. Plans, organizes, and maintains production and planting records or metrics as directed.Ensure production crews have adequate supplies and equipment before and during work hours; collaborate with the Department Head to procure necessary materials from external vendors.Assist in identifying, developing, and training new employees with proper procedures and proper equipment.Ensure that employees comply with company policy and safety procedures.Collaborate with mechanics to diagnose and resolve equipment mechanical issues as needed.Perform other tasks as assigned throughout the year to support production and facility needs.Required and Preferred Qualifications :
Valid drivers license required.Ability to operate equipment such as but not limited to, forklifts, conveyors, and tractors.Experience leading and directing individuals or teams to achieve common goals required.Ability to work weekends / extended hours as needed, required.Basic computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook preferred.Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).Ability to learn and execute company policies / procedures / rules as applicable.Physical demands may include extensive periods of sitting or walking, some lifting, and potential exposure to extreme temperatures.Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.Disclaimer : This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.
