Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III Neonatal ICU position requiring BLS and NRP certifications, with every other weekend coverage.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an 8-bed Level III NICU within an acute care setting
  • Common patient population includes infants 30 weeks gestation and above
  • Patient conditions may require stabilization and transfer for younger infants
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1 : 1 to 1 : 4 based on acuity
  • Utilizes Epic EMR system
  • Shifts are 12 hours, with both day (0630-1900) and night (1830-0700) options
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • Floating to postpartum unit may be required
  • Use of titratable drips such as ampicillin, gentamicin, caffeine, TPN, and lipids
  • Equipment includes nasal cannula, vents, and other respiratory support devices
  • Charge nurse present on each shift
  • Support staff include one OB tech per floor, PRN nurse aides, and a second tech
  • Primary duties include providing critical care to neonatal patients and titrating specialized drips
  • Must demonstrate strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
  • 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
  • Holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs
  • Scrub attire must meet unit guidelines
  • Returning employees must not have worked at a CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year
  • First time travelers will be considered for this position
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active NE or compact RN license required at time of submission
  • Minimum 1 year of recent NICU RN experience
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Ability to titrate drips and experience with neonatal critical care equipment
  • Epic charting system experience preferred
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license used for verification
  • Candidates may not have current full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities
  • Successful completion of an open book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
  • Up to 7 days of requested time off permitted per 13 week contract, must be submitted upfront
  • Two professional references required : one supervisor from within the last 12 months, one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years
