Responsibilities
- Have experience within the utility-scale power and renewable energy industry and be capable of leading teams for power generation design projects, including supporting in a traditional Owner's Engineering role.
- Have extensive experience in power generation and distribution, renewable energy, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance of plant designs such as raceway, lighting, and grounding systems.
- Interest and experience in the renewables and battery energy storage systems (BESS) market is highly desired.
- Mentor junior engineers, support client relationships, and lead marketing activities including proposal technical writing, fee builds, and work breakdown structure development in response to requests for proposals.
- A significant level of design and engineer of record work experience with power plant systems is required.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering with an Electrical Power emphasisProfessional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas or ability to obtain reciprocity15+ years' experience in electrical power generation and renewable energy designField experience, including startup and commissioningExperience in renewable energy (PV, BESS, etc.) and DER or "microgrid" projects is highly desiredPrevious experience with an engineering power consulting firm is desiredWillingness to grow into a team lead or section manager roleStrong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team, or as a lead on a small teamExtensive knowledge of three-phase electrical power, protection and control design and settings development, system grounding, physical design, and related activities such as lighting and grounding design, instrumentation and control, and life safety systemsInstrumentation and Controls experience, particularly with DCS and PLC systems, is a plusAbility to work with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as neededDirect the activities of other engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as neededAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culturePosition will include an expectation of less than 10% travel for meetings with clients and vendors as well as project site visitsRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in EngineeringA minimum of 10 years of experienceRequires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., PE or P.Eng)Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market SectorProficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (e.g., PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit)Active participation in our employee-owned cultureWhat We Believe
