About the role
The Guardian seeks a creative, strategic and highly organized audio / video producer to help us launch a new audio and video podcast aimed at the US market.
The Guardian has a robust collection of award-winning podcasts in the UK, but this will be our first news show for an American audience. Working closely with the show's executive producer, the deputy EP will help develop a US news show that draws on the resources of our global newsrooms and translates the work of Guardian reporters and outside guests into compelling episodes. You'll be a key voice in development decisions, from identifying talent to determining how to bring the Guardian's unique voice and global perspective to life.
With the EP, the deputy executive producer will help build a small audio / video team and work with the Guardian's journalists, columnists and desk editors. We're seeking a strong operational manager with excellent news judgement who is interested in expanding what a news and talk show can sound and look like and can help run the show day-to-day after launch. This show will rely heavily on guest booking and interview prep and the ideal candidate will understand how to do those tasks with care and respect when dealing with sensitive stories and creativity and playfulness whenever possible.
