About This Opportunity
The IT Project Manager II is responsible for providing project planning and management activities for new and established initiatives. IT Project Managers work across multiple teams and technical disciplines to ensure that project requirements are completed to specifications, within the established time frame and on budget. They submit project deliverables and actively engage teams to alleviate roadblocks and improve delivery processes.
Under general supervision of a manager or program manager, the IT Project Manager II oversees multiple projects or one large project through the entire project lifecycle (Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring, Closure). They manage moderately complex issues and problems, define and control project scope, risks, issues and objectives, assemble the project team, assign responsibilities, identify resources, and develop schedules to ensure timely completion.
Responsibilities
- Manages medium-to-large scale standard and custom projects.
- Collaborates across multiple business and technical teams to plan and execute project goals.
- Drives planning activities and creates project schedules using MS Project.
- Sets direction for all resources at the project level.
- Supervises and drives project tasks to successful completion.
- Participates in project discussions and decision-making meetings to clarify objectives and deliverables.
- Identifies and secures project resources and coordinates their activities to achieve goals.
- Contracts the flow of project information from the Sponsor to the team.
- Facilitates discussions to define rules governing execution of the project.
- Creates and maintains project documentation (weekly status, action item log, risk / issue log, minutes, communication plan, Operational Readiness, retrospectives, closeout documents).
- Ensures stakeholder satisfaction through proactive issue escalation and clear, concise communication throughout the project.
- Facilitates effective communication between team members and stakeholders across the project lifecycle.
- Monitors project schedules and task execution, addressing risks to ensure timely completion.
- Modifies project schedules as needed to align with changes.
- Uses MS Project to manage resource capacity and weekly time publishing.
- Ensures operational support of application / customer is in place before project closure.
- Obtains acceptance of project deliverables before closure.
- Troubleshoots issues during project implementation.
- Plans, schedules and attends weekly meetings with the project team and stakeholders.
- Keeps project team informed of changes and escalates issues when needed.
- Communicates relevant project information to leadership.
- Provides peer-to-peer coaching and mentoring to junior team members.
Qualifications
Substantial knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle, including Waterfall and Agile.Strong understanding of Change and Release Management processes.Experience leading technology implementations / system integrations (transaction processing, digital, and / or ecommerce systems is a plus).Understanding of information security, data encryption, and compliance requirements (e.g., PCI, HIPAA) as they relate to transaction processing.Basic understanding of networking topologies and their impact on implementation options.Ability to clearly communicate complex technical topics to business teams.Ability to influence others to achieve project objectives and build collaborative teams.Excellent time management and prioritization skills.Strong written and oral communication skills; attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to learn, retain, and apply complex technical information; be able to plan, think and act independently; self-directed, decisive, adaptable, flexible, highly motivated.Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 2-4 years in Project Management and / or Business Analysis in a relevant industry (e.g., software development, IT infrastructure, IT operations).Minimum 2-4 years working in an Agile environment.Minimum 2-4 years with PPM software (Microsoft Project, Microsoft Project Server, SharePoint, preferred).Experience with JIRA, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, Teams, Confluence.Experience with different project management methodologies (Iterative, Agile, Waterfall, etc.) is a plus.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.Experience with leading technology implementations / system integrations (transaction processing, digital, and / or ecommerce systems is a plus).PMP preferred but not essential.Education Requirements
