Job Description

The Construction Manager will oversee all field construction activities for transmission, distribution, and substation projects within the Power Delivery sector. This role is responsible for ensuring that projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with client and company standards. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of utility construction practices, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders across complex, high-voltage infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage and oversee construction of transmission lines, substations, and distribution systems from mobilization through project closeout.
  • Serve as the primary field contact for project management, engineering, safety, and client representatives.
  • Lead and coordinate subcontractors, field personnel, and vendors to maintain project schedules and quality.
  • Monitor daily construction progress, cost tracking, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety programs, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, NESC, DOT).
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and work plans to identify conflicts or constructability issues.
  • Develop and maintain site logistics plans, work schedules, and progress reporting.
  • Support project budget forecasting, change order management, and contract administration.
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all project sites.
  • Conduct regular field inspections and ensure adherence to quality control standards.

The Successful Applicant

Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent field experience accepted.
  • 7+ years of experience in construction management within the power delivery, utility, or electrical infrastructure industry.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale transmission, substation, or distribution construction projects.
  • Technical Skills :

  • Strong understanding of electrical utility construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in project management and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore).
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and QA / QC standards.
  • Soft Skills :

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced, field-based environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration across multiple stakeholders.
