In this role, you will harness the power of advanced 3D CAD platforms (ProE / Creo, SolidWorks - preferred) to lead the mechanical design process from conception through build, testing, and ongoing support.
As part of our Chattanooga, TN team, you will collaborate with cross-functional groups to drive success in the development of custom tooling and fixtures. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of custom automation systems, managing complex projects.
- Create and document 3D mechanical designs utilizing CAD software like SolidWorks.
- Perform engineering calculations to ensure mechanical performance and safety.
- Collaborate with teams across fabrication, controls, and project management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Produce technical drawings and detailed part documentation for production and procurement support.
- Engage with customers during the design phase to meet technical requirements and expectations.
- Ensure all mechanical designs align with project specifications and purchase order terms.
- Take ownership of small-scale projects, serving as Engineering Lead, Designer, and Detailer.
- Provide technical insight to Estimating, Sales, Production, and Service departments.
- Manage timelines proactively to meet project schedules in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of mechanical design engineering experience, preferably in industrial automation or custom equipment development.Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field preferred but not mandatory.Proficient in 3D CAD software (ProE / Creo and / or SolidWorks required).Solid understanding of mechanical principles, fabrication methods, and materials.Basic knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and robotic systems is a plus.Strong mechanical aptitude with proactive problem-solving skills.Experience in customer-facing technical roles and project collaboration is desirable.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); project management software experience is a bonus.Ability to navigate shifting priorities and deliver results under tight timelines.We are committed to promoting equal employment opportunity for applicants without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, veteran status, disability, genetic information, or any other category protected by law.
