Grassroots Advocacy Specialist

The Association of Texas Professional Educators, Texas' largest professional association for public school employees, seeks a goal-driven, service-oriented, dynamic professional for our Grassroots Advocacy Specialist in the Central Texas area.

The Grassroots Advocacy Specialist responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Serving as point person and primary contact person within the Governmental Relations department regarding member-focused initiatives to increase grassroots advocacy. Such initiatives will include outreach, recruitment, and training on ATPE advocacy initiatives.
• Developing and implementing awareness, fundraising, and donor recognition initiatives for a political action committee and serving as the staff liaison for the political action committee.
• Assisting with execution of the department’s strategic plan, including through participation in ATPE events.
• Assisting in the implementation of department projects and administrative activities, including but not limited to supporting related ATPE committees, bill tracking, and data entry.

The Grassroots Advocacy Specialist may also assist with Governmental Relations-related member communications.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree and fundraising experience, as well as computer competency and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The ideal candidate should be experienced in developing and implementing targeted communication initiatives. Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of public education issues and basic familiarity with ethics laws and rules pertaining to PACs are highly preferred. Knowledge of legislative processes and experience with legislative tracking services such as Telicon is preferred. One year of project management experience is preferred. Bilingual preferred. The Grassroots Advocacy Specialist position will be based within the Central Texas area.
