Job Opportunity At Geisinger Community Medical Center

Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) is seeking a Regional Manager to oversee the management of Geisinger Wyoming Valley and Geisinger Community Medical Center. This position requires travel to each site. The ideal candidate will possess an Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field, active Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL), and active Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certifications. Additionally, the candidate should have 5 years of experience as a sterile technician and 8 years of supervisory experience.

The responsibilities of this role include defining and leading the strategy for Business Intelligence (BI) and Process Engineering (PE) to support the Central Sterile Supply and Surgical Suite inventory activities for various hubs of Geisinger. The Regional Manager will also be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, mentoring, and supervision of all Central Sterile Supply and Surgical Suite inventory management staff. This role involves overseeing major projects related to improvement and technology enabled systems integration and process optimization. The Regional Manager will analyze, develop, organize, and direct system resources to effectively manage the clinical utilization of supplies and equipment across the Health System with an emphasis on patient safety, product quality, and cost effectiveness.

Key duties include :

• Assisting in the planning, directing, and coordinating of activities relative to the procurement, processing, inventory management, receiving, storage, and distribution of supplies to support effective patient care.
• Performing supervisory, administrative, and training functions as they relate to the sterile processing and inventory staff.
• Utilizing on-line purchasing requests, maintaining database files, and producing required reports from the OR and Supply Chain inventory systems.
• Managing the coordination of the annual year-end inventory processes within the Operating Room.
• Proactively responding to support changes and anticipate problems.
• Effectively adjusting work routine while maintaining standards and quality.
• Acting in partnership with Supply Chain and Finance to ensure efficient and effective supply chain management that meets the needs of the Surgical Suite.
• Developing and maintaining advanced knowledge of Supply Chain operations and systems technical and functional capabilities.
• Investigating and proposing new technology and approaches that will ensure every resource allocated and every dollar invested meets or exceeds the previous years business objectives on a continuous basis.
• Providing subject matter expertise for Surgical Suite and Supply Chain functional areas and defining overall strategic direction relating to system process and standards.
• Developing, implementing, and maintaining Surgical Suite inventory processes, workflows, and analysis, business systems evaluation and design.
• Working to optimize the strategic functions between technology and process engineering.
• Facilitating the development of appropriate BI and PE policies and procedures required to support and sustain Central Sterile Supply and surgical suite inventory business operations.
• Utilizing continuing education opportunities to improve BI and PE techniques.
• Developing departmental and project budgets, timelines, schedules, and assignments.
• Coordinating all projects to ensure tasks are performed accurately and timelines are achieved.
• Reporting project progress to management.
• Preparing annual budgets and providing budget update reports to Administrative Director as needed.
• Developing capital submissions and ROI calculations.
• Overseeing the maintenance of shared inventory databases.
• Performing HR functions including, but not limited to : job descriptions, performance evaluations, recruitment, selection, hiring, promoting, and disciplining as required.
• Providing staff education to ensure competency.
• Developing key performance indicators, providing real-time metrics, and aligning operational behavior with strategic objectives to help managers move from reactive to proactive management.
• Providing benchmarking analysis and reports supporting all CSS, surgical inventory, and related processes (e.g. capital).
• Assisting surgical suite staff in identification of cost-saving opportunities.
