Description :
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who coordinates patient care delivery by the healthcare team.
Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient.
The RN identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems.
The RN develops and implements an individualized plan of care.
The RN evaluates the patient's response.
The RN promotes safe passage for patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment.
The RN assists patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without preventable complications or delays.
The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on the nursing practice act, each patient's condition, and the competencies of the employee.
This position is applicable for RNs in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments with 24X7 staffing which include departments with on-call staffing on off shifts.
Essential functions include clinical judgment through accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards.
The RN identifies and prioritizes patient and family needs.
Develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing plan of care.
Modifies plans to meet clinical outcomes.
Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
Participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Creates a compassionate, supportive, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
Develops therapeutic relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Manages both emotional and physical pain to promote comfort and healing.
Recognizes and incorporates a patient's unique differences into an individualized plan of care.
Preserves and protects the confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights of patients and families.
Facilitates learning for patients and families, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
Works collaboratively with colleagues to implement an integrated plan of care.
Uses strategies and available resources for problem-solving for patients, families, and staff.
Implements knowledge and understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
Committed to ongoing professional growth through continuing education and professional networking.
