Schedule : Job Summary :
The Central Telecommunications Operator is responsible for managing and routing incoming calls and messages to hospital and medical staff. Duties include dispatching routine and urgent clinical messages, relaying vital patient information, monitoring alarms and emergency codes, and maintaining accurate departmental and physician on-call schedules.
Job Responsibilities :
Answer inbound calls courteously and route to appropriate departments or individuals, maintaining a 99% average answer time.
Accurately page and notify appropriate personnel based on requests and urgency.
Document and relay medical answering service information precisely.
Monitor and respond to codes, alarms, alerts, and drills per established policies and disaster management protocols.
Update and manage account information, removing outdated data and notifying management of system issues or potential customer service concerns.
Exercise independent judgment within established guidelines for minor decisions.
Interact effectively with patients, customers, healthcare professionals, and internal / external staff.
Maintain accurate typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
Required Skills & Experience :
Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and multitasking skills.
Proficient in operating telecommunications systems.
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
Friendly, professional demeanor even under pressure.
Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Basic knowledge of phone and computer technology, including ASCOM systems.
