Phipps Neighborhoods, the social service affiliate of Phipps Houses, has been a catalyst for community growth and empowerment for over 50 years. Our mission is focused on creating safe, inclusive spaces where community members can access education, career opportunities, and economic pathways. Serving approximately 14,000 New Yorkers annually, we address barriers to educational achievement, economic security, and career stability through three key program areas :
Education and School-Day Programs : Offering pre-kindergarten services, community schools, after-school programs, and college access counseling.
Sector-Focused Training and Employment Placement Pathways : Providing specialized training, employment placement pathways, Summer Youth Employment, Work Learning Grow initiatives, and aiding residents in accessing new employment opportunities.
Community & Economic Empowerment Services : Enabling community progress through community centers, resident services, food access, financial literacy programs, and support accessing benefits and wellness services.
We collaborate with government, corporate, and philanthropic partners to effect significant and lasting social change, fostering thriving communities.
Position : Residential Aide Level -I

Program
Primary Function :
Maintains front door security and supervises residents living in SRO. Ensure adherence to program and facilitates a secure and functional environment for the residents.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Monitors all residents, staff and visitors entering and leaving the facility
Answers telephone and directs calls to appropriate staff member and / or department
Welcomes and introduces new clients as they arrive and, in the absence of an onsite counselor, does preliminary intakes and reviews house rules.
Prepare intake packages for new clients.
Conducts vertical tours of the facility
Manages fire safety and other emergency procedures
Monitors fire alarm system and conducts fire drills
Makes daily rounds of the apartments.
Maintains daily visitor and resident sign-in logs
Conducts apartment inspections and pre-and-post-vacancy apartment inventory
Prepares incident reports and enters them into the electronic data collection system
In an emergency, contacts EMS, FDNY, or NYPD to address on site incidents
Contacts Program Director AND PHSI staff regarding on site emergencies
Attends professional development trainings in order to ensure all certifications are up to date
Perform other tasks as deemed necessary by the Program Director and Senior RA.
Qualifications :
New York State Security Guard License
8hr. & 16 hr. Security Guard certification
New York State Fire Guard License preferred
High School Diploma or GED preferred or previous experience
Candidate must be computer literate.
