A Brief Overview

The Derivative Risk and New Product Support Specialist provides all derivative risk reporting, performance attribution reporting, and support implementation efforts into the primary derivative systems for new derivative types while deepening knowledge of derivative valuation. Efforts will support the derivative operations, portfolio management, and overall Investments requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Act as point person for all derivative risk issues including establishing reporting standards for all risk reporting including daily risk sensitivities, standard monthly reporting, P&L volatility estimation, and quarterly collateral reporting
  • Ensure the proper production of daily, monthly, and ad-hoc derivative risk reporting and performance attribution reporting
  • Work with derivative infrastructure specialist to implement processes to centralize all derivative risk data from primary sources (i.e. Findur, Aladdin, and Acadia) to Investment reporting tools (e.g. Snowflake)
  • Work with Investment data to ensure that derivative systems have proper external market data to support valuation and risk reporting
  • Work with Investments Quant Team, business lines, and Treasury to support more comprehensive derivative risk reporting
  • Enhance or develop automation efforts to improve the group's overall efficiency
  • Work closely with IT developers including the writing of technical spec documents
  • Support manager with the anticipation and development of the future projects of the team which adhere to the department's needs
  • With the support of the Manager, develop deep understanding of valuation approaches and methodologies
  • Develop good understanding of the following daily functions to be performed primarily by the derivative operations team :
  • Daily collateral management and reporting
  • Trade capture of all derivative trades
  • Derivative Reporting
  • Derivative Pricing
  • Confirmation Management
  • Reconciliations with dealers and accounting system
  • Regulatory Compliance Management
  • ISDA / CSA management
  • Support the management of SOX and internal controls

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Math, Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 7+ years of business experience thereof 5+ years related work experience dealing with securities / derivative processes and / or interest rate risk reporting
  • or-
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Math, Engineering or Computer Science
  • 4+ years of business experience thereof 2+ years related work experience dealing with securities / derivative processes and / or interest rate risk reporting
  • Preferred

  • Risk management or trading support experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of derivative valuation
  • Skills and Abilities Required

  • Strong demonstrated usage of technology (SQL, Python, etc.) and databases
  • Good investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects, including the ability to re-prioritize tasks constantly based on the level of activity generated by the team and other associates.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
  • Good oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders, including customers and managed associates
  • Good skills in customer relationship management and change management
  • Advanced knowledge of broad investments business practices
  • Very good ability to balance detail with departmental goals / objectives
  • Some knowledge of derivative processing
  • Strong ability to learn about financial fundamentals

  • Compensation Range :

    $104,350.00 - $155,350.00 Annual

    Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
