THE OPPORTUNITY

The Red Hook Community Resilience Corps is an AmeriCorps National Service Program that seeks to make Red Hook a safer, stronger and a more resilient community for individuals ages 18+. AmeriCorps members are part of our unconventional programs and services throughout the Center that engage residents and promote public safety. Members work directly with community members to provide services and referrals to address needs centered on economic mobility, housing issues and many other areas. Furthermore, members also will perform service projects throughout the neighborhood and by the end of their service year, members will gain the skills needed to plan and execute their own project.

The Center is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist. Reporting to the Americorps Coordinator, the Youth Engagement Specialist will support the Red Hook Community Justice Center in developing and implementing a youth-driven initiative. Launched to empower young people as leaders and changemakers, Youth Impact is a comprehensive strategy designed to reduce youth involvement in the justice system while promoting personal growth, leadership, and civic engagement. The initiative seeks to strengthen community well-being by equipping participants with skills in areas such as restorative justice, financial literacy, community organizing, and socio-emotional development. Since its creation, Youth Impact has engaged young people through workshops, mentorship, and community service projects that amplify youth voice, expand opportunities for education and career pathways, and build stronger connections among families, schools, and local stakeholders.

AVAILABILITY

The start date for this position is December 1, 2025, with an end date of September 30, 2026. Applicants must be available to commit to serve 30-hours a week, Monday-Friday between the hours of 9 : 00am - 5 : 00pm with occasional evenings and weekends.
