Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Network Infrastructure Manager to support our local utility client. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network systems across distributed operational environments, including power plants, solar fields, and control centers. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Cisco technologies, network architecture, and team leadership, with a strong focus on performance, security, and operational excellence. This position plays a critical role in ensuring reliable connectivity and compliance across both IT and OT networks.
Base pay range
$55.00 / hr - $60.00 / hr
On-site – Tampa, FL
6-Month Contract
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage the organization's network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, SDN, and OT networks, with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Oversee the deployment, configuration, patching, and maintenance of Cisco routers, switches, and wireless access points across Power Plants, Solar Fields, and Control Centers.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues involving Cisco equipment, DDoS protection, NetScaler load balancers, and SolarWinds.
- Lead and manage the Technology Network team, including recruitment, training, and performance management, while fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
- Utilize metrics and KPIs to guide decision-making, track SLAs, and drive continuous improvement in network operations and project outcomes.
- Ensure network security and compliance by developing and enforcing policies, procedures, and industry-aligned standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the installation and configuration of server and storage infrastructure.
- Drive operational excellence by improving and automating network processes and workflows.
- Manage network-related budgets and vendor relationships, including contract negotiations and cost optimization strategies.
- Provide leadership and consultation on network-related security matters.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Patch, upgrade, and replace Cisco network equipment (routers / switches).Design and maintain robust network infrastructure across distributed locations.Diagnose and resolve complex server and network issues using tools such as SolarWinds.Interface with vendors and internal teams to maintain high network performance and availability.Maintain and optimize load balancers and DDoS protection systems.Required Skills and Experience
8–10 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure.Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, and wireless access pointsExperience in patching, upgrading, and break / fix for Cisco network equipment.Proven experience in managing WAN, LAN, SDN , and operational technology networks.3+ years of supervisory / team leadership experience.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Experience working independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience managing Data Centers , network architecture, and operational technology (OT).Industry experience in utilities or similar critical infrastructure environmentsFamiliarity with cloud-based networking , licensing optimization, and emerging technologies.Knowledge of compliance requirements specific to the industry.Experience with load balancers SolarWinds , and NetScalerStrong understanding of IP and SDN networkingLeadership skills with the ability to influence and drive results across technical teams.Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on automation and process efficiency.Awareness of cloud, compute, and storage environmentsUnderstanding of vendor management ITIL frameworks , and operations managementCertifications (Preferred)
CCNA CCNP , or CCIE certifications are highly desirable.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
