Manager Of Donor Engagement

The Manager of Donor Engagement represents the Memorial Hermann Foundation across the organization and in the community. S / he provides leadership and direction, works collaboratively with Foundation and System staff and physicians to advance philanthropic support for the Memorial Hermann Foundation. The Manager supports engagement activities on a daily basis, providing consistency and accuracy to the processes that develop high quality work products at Memorial Hermann Foundation.

Minimum Qualifications

Education : Bachelor's degree required.

Licenses / Certifications : (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills :

  • Five (5) years of professional experience in development or a related field; healthcare experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills to interact with an array of stakeholders that could include clinical leaders, management, board members and other high-level volunteers, donors, and prospects.
  • Detail-oriented, possessing a critical degree of accuracy.
  • Evidence of effectiveness in building and sustaining relationships with donors, staff, partners and physicians.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of donor development, including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Goal oriented, problem solver with excellent organizational skills to execute multiple priorities.
  • Ability to persuade and motivate others.
  • Ability to work well with a variety of stakeholders and to adapt to changing needs and conditions.
  • High degree of professionalism, collegiality, maturity and diplomacy required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of Raiser's Edge is a plus.

Principal Responsibilities

  • At the direction of Foundation leadership, executes donor collateral designed to fit the interest of the donor including publications, newsletters, brochures, packets, invitations and updates.
  • Implements approved communication strategies; creates project collateral that attracts, motivates and inspires philanthropic support.
  • Maintains internal and external relationships to ensure high quality work products.
  • Manages details and logistics for communication projects, such as holiday cards, event programs and welcome packets.
  • Supports Grateful Patient initiatives as requested, including campus circulation.
  • Secures all details required to coordinate interviews for stories from patients and donors, including consent forms and approvals.
  • Assists with photo shoots and possibly videos as needed.
  • Assists with reviewing results of program collateral; evaluates and recommends improvements to streamline tasks and introduce program efficiencies.
  • Supports writing needs and content creation across Foundation team, including prospect research, constituent profiles, acknowledgement letters, impact reports, proposals and other products as requested.
  • Works collaboratively with Foundation team members across departments to achieve fundraising goals and deliver results in all assigned areas.
  • Works with Major Gifts and Donor Engagement & Special Events teams on key Foundation initiatives.
  • Participates in and supports the fundraising initiatives of the Foundation, including special events, the employee campaign and donor engagement activities.
  • Supports Foundation-based goals that contribute to the success of the Foundation and Memorial Hermann.
  • Keeps abreast of current best practices in the development profession, continually evaluating new and emerging ideas for potential implementation at the Memorial Hermann Foundation.
  • Remains informed about developments in the competitive marketplace, especially in the Texas Medical Center and Houston nonprofit community.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory / continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as a resource to less experienced staff.
