About The Position

Must-Have : Experience with trach and BiPAP preferred but not required

Description :

Department focuses on oncology with core staff administering chemotherapy.

No oncology provider is in-house during the current day.

The unit has 31 beds with nurse-patient ratios of 1 : 4-5 during the day and 1 : 5-6 at night.

Common diagnoses include adults and geriatrics with strokes, hypertension, COPD, cellulitis, CHF, and chest pain.

RNs are required to titrate medications, including Lasix and Heparin.

There is a Charge Nurse on each shift who serves as a resource but does not have an assignment unless necessary.

Patient care techs are present with a ratio of 1 : 8.

RNs handle basic troubleshooting of respiratory equipment such as BiPAP.

Tele monitor technicians assist with monitoring, and RNs are not required to interpret strips.

The schedule is managed by administration, with considerations for block scheduling.

Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required as needed.

No on-call or standby requirements are in place.

RNs will float to other medical surgical units when necessary.

A supportive and team-oriented work culture is emphasized.

RTO (Request Time Off) must be provided upfront, with restrictions on additional requests later.

Team members are encouraged to feel supported within the unit environment.
