Unit : 3E CPU – Combined Telemetry / PCU Unit

Shifts : Nights | 3x12-Hour (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM)

Job Overview

UM UCMC is seeking experienced Telemetry RNs with Progressive Care Unit (PCU) skills to work on a higher-acuity telemetry unit (3E CPU) . Nurses must be confident caring for complex cardiac, respiratory, and renal patients. This is an auto-offer job —no interview will be conducted.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum Experience : 2 years of Telemetry + some PCU experience
  • Must be able to care for higher acuity patients
  • Patient Ratio : 1 : 5–6
  • Charting System : Epic – Preferred
  • Travel Experience : Not required

    • Certifications

  • Required :

    • BLS (AHA only)

  • CPI (Calm Every Storm online version only)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Preferred :

    • ACLS (AHA)

    Common Patient Diagnoses

  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • COPD Exacerbations
  • NSTEMI
  • New A-Fib / Arrhythmias
  • Sepsis
  • Renal Failure
  • Post-MI
  • Pre / Post Cardiac Cath

    • Key Clinical Skills

    Cardiac / Telemetry :

  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote)
  • Cardiac drip management (non-titrating)
  • TR Band use (preferred)
  • Heparin protocols
  • Use of Rapid Response / Code Teams

    • IV Therapy & Lines :

  • Blood product administration
  • Peripheral line and PICC management
  • Phlebotomy
  • Chest tubes (Emerson / PleurEvac)
  • Nasal cannula oxygen delivery

    • Professional Practice :

  • Infection prevention and isolation precautions
  • Genitourinary management – renal failure
  • Calm Every Storm (CPI) for de-escalation
