Athletic Trainer II
Athletic Trainer Job Duties :
The L-ATC will provide outreach athletic training and sports medicine services to a contracted school or sports organization in collaboration with a licensed physician. The L-ATC is responsible for the athletic training room and event coverage for the contracted school / organization per the terms of the agreement(s). The L-ATC will assess athletic injuries and provide referrals based on medical necessity. The L-ATC will establish a plan of care and implement an individualized treatment program for the student / participating athletes based on evaluation results and established goals. The L-ATC will perform other related duties as needed, including documentation, patient and family education, new program development, and administration duties necessary in the routine of the workplace. The L-ATC may also provide services in the outpatient clinical setting including opportunities to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a physical therapist or orthopedic physician.
- Provide Athletic Training services to contracted area school / organization or at the request of the Director of Rehabilitation, providing patient centered care to all student-athletes.
- Serve as the primary Athletic Trainer for multiple sports as requested by the contracted school / organization or Director of Rehabilitation, including injury and illness evaluation, treatments, rehabilitation, referrals, maintaining timely / accurate medical records, coordinate medical care following physician's plan of care.
- Position provides onsite practice coverage, event coverage, and team travel per contract.
- Position will require night, weekend and holiday coverage as requested by the contracted school / organization or Director of Rehabilitation.
- Act as the appropriate medical contact and coordinate medical care for all assigned teams and established student-athlete patients.
- Provide general coverage for the Athletic Training Room during posted hours.
- Provide appropriate Athletic Training Room management, including but not limited to proper supply use, inventory, cleaning, and facility maintenance.
- Appropriately report injuries, illnesses, and referrals to the Sports Medicine Lead and / or supervising orthopedic physician when necessary.
- Effectively communicate with athletic director, organization administration, program coaches, and / or strength & conditioning staff regarding participation status and limitations of injured and ill student athletes while complying with HIPAA standards.
- Serve as liaison between the staff and student-athletes at the contracted school / organization and Froedtert South Sports Medicine providers.
- Perform administrative functions or roles as directed by the Sports Medicine Lead and / or Director of Rehabilitation Services.
- Supervises patient exercise program. May require demonstrating stretches and / or resistance exercises.
- Administers various types of modalities when necessary to provide optimal patient care.
- Evaluates on and off-field athletic injuries. May be required to assist in transporting and / or assisting the injured athlete from the field.
- Administers medications in a timely manner, safely and in accordance with their scope of practice in Wisconsin and Froedtert South policy and procedure.
Athletic Trainer Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor’s or master’s Degree from an accredited professional athletic training programCertified by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA)Valid licensure to practice as an Athletic Trainer in the state of WisconsinCurrent BLS and / or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hirePrevious experience as an Athletic Trainer or similar field experience.Ability to read, write, hear, speak, and comprehend the English language.Benefits :
