Description
Under general supervision, perform a variety of repairs and installations to District facilities using multi-skill talents such as carpentry, flooring, ceiling, wall repair, and painting.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Perform a variety of repairs and installations to school facilities, for various crafts including carpentry, flooring, wall, ceiling and painting.
- Identify and resolve various maintenance repair problems related to multi-skills craft.
- Measure, cut, and shape various materials to fit repairing numerous multi skill maintenance issues.
- Maintain inventory of assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles as assigned daily, inform supervisor of any known problems immediately and provide documentation during inspection and / or inventory of tools, equipment, and vehicle as required
- Follow District safety guidelines, using good safety practices for operating hand and power tools and equipment as need for job completion. Wear safety equipment as assigned, at all times.
- Maintain accurate records for labor, materials, work order completion, project orders, manufacture's technical data sheets, material safety data sheets, and other Maintenance records.
- Report observed maintenance problems that require action of other Maintenance departments.
- Communicate effectively with principals, department heads, district staff, and all other auxiliary services personnel in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair, and complete each job or project.
- Employee may be required to respond to after hour / emergency callouts, be placed on an emergency call out rotation, and flex work hours to accommodate job completions.
- Comply with District policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.
- All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Directly supervises none.
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required of this job :
Accredited High School diploma or USA equivalency.Three (3) years of work experience in four different crafts; One (1) year of experience in carpentry, flooring, ceiling repair, and painting. Masonry / plaster / ceramic tile experience is desiredMust pass lead paint and respirator certification course.Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision.Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.Demonstrated skills in accurate record keeping and computer data base management, including work orders and material procurement.Demonstrated ability to complete work orders accurately.Maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and driving record that meets District standards.Must pass a Dallas ISD random drug test.PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Must be able to safely tolerate the elements as required for the craft. Be able to work off scaffolding and a minimum of 40-foot ladder.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Regularly exposed to such environmental conditions as moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions. Regularly required to travel to facilities within the District.
