Radiology - Multimodality Supervisor

Status : Full Time

Shift : 8 Hour Days

JOB SUMMARY

The Supervisor Multimodality is accountable for supervising, planning, organizing and improving work processes in the various sections of Radiology Services. This position performs department orientation, teaches, coaches, supervises staff and performs imaging exams in various disciplines such as CT, MR or Rad. The Supervisor also acts as a department liaison in the absence of a manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

Oversees the delivery and quality of imaging services with respect to turnaround times, quality of exams performed and patient preparation in a timely, accurate, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with established System and regulatory standards, policies and procedures.

Performs procedures, as needed, due to workload or complexity. Ensures adequate staffing levels, supplies and resources are available to perform exams and clinical services to meet clinical demands.

Schedules, monitors, evaluates and modifies staffing patterns in order to properly provide services in assigned areas. Interviews, counsels, and completes performance evaluations.

Trains new staff and Ensures all registrations and certifications are current, on file and up to date.

Partners with the management team and staff to conduct multidisciplinary staff meetings to ensure consistent and timely communication throughout the department.

Facilitates goal setting for staff working in the imaging sections.

Monitors goals, achievements and Ensures the outcome of the goals is reflected in the annual performance evaluations.

Encourages employees to participate in Employee Satisfaction Surveys, Patient Safety surveys and other activities providing service feedback results to staff. Initiates a plan of action related to areas of improvement.

Partners with Management to develop a budget for the department - including providing feedback on new and replacement equipment and services needed for continued growth - monitors operational budgets and implements corrective action plans for negative productivity and operating expense variances.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

Able to perform high quality advanced imaging procedures according to exam protocol and in compliance with established System and regulatory standards, policies and procedures in a timely manner, and and explain the procedure to put patients at ease.

Able to perform tasks exclusively without need for routine oversight.

Able to maintain a calm and helpful attitude, even under times of stress, and take appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issues.

Able to ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, remaining professional, reviewing patient satisfaction scores and developing action plans when required.

Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, continued education and skills appropriate care for the following age groups (specific to department) : newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult and geriatric.

Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.

Able to make tactical conclusions around the allocation and direction of the work of supervised employees using established guidelines, policies and / or procedures. Able to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.

Able to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff. General computer skills, including but not limited to : Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Able to take call, if required.

QUALIFICATIONS : -

CERTIFICATION / LICENSE / REGISTRATION : -

Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography in TWO imaging modalities and work 25% of the time in the second modality. Approved modalities are : ARRT-R, ARRT-CT, ARRT-CV, ARRT-M, ARRT-MR, ARRT-N, ARRT-S, ARRT-VI, ARRT-BS, ARRT-BD, ARRT-CI, RDMS-AB, RDMS-BR, RDMS-FE, RDMS-OB, RDMS-PS, RVT, CNMT or ARMRIT.
